CRIME SCENE / PROPERTY & EVIDENCE
       
The Cleburne Police Department employs
one Crime Scene / Property and Evidence Technician  and   one  assistant  clerk. 
The   technician   is   responsible       for
processing   and   photographing   crime
scenes, collecting   evidence,   and
maintaining and storing all other property
that is recovered by the Cleburne Police
Department.

He is also responsible for the management, storage, and security of all evidence and any other  property  turned in to the Police Department.  The  crime scene  technician is on call and  responds  to all major crime scene investigations.  The police department must be very careful with the storage and security of all property and evidence but especially with items such as firearms, money, jewelry, and illegal drug substances.  The Crime Scene Tech is frequently required to testify in court in criminal cases pertaining to evidence.

 

                              ABOUT THE CRIME SCENE TECHNICIAN

Mr. Sam Thomas was born on the U.S. Marine Base at Camp Pendleton, California.  According to him, he became a Texan when he was six weeks old.  He is a former police officer with Cedar Park, TX. and a former reserve officer with the Keene, TX. Police Department.  He joined the Cleburne Police Department in 2002 as a police dispatcher where he worked for four years.  He transferred to Crime Scene Technician in 2006.

 He has completed specialized courses of training to perform his duties including:
